You must avoid alcohol completely for some time. Since, intestines are weakened after
typhoid, one must be careful about diet and hygiene. If you are not having
fever,
diarrhoea and abdominal discomfort now, you need to first begin with a
liquid diet comprising of freshly squeezed fruit juices with added sugar and
glucose for energy, soups both veg. and non-veg. are allowed, buttermilk, milk and milkshakes can also be taken. Avoid milk and milk based beverages if you have diarrhoea or abdominal discomfort. You need to gradually introduce semi solid foods like boiled rice and pulses, potatoes, semolina and sago puddings, porridges of wheat and oats etc. Avoid solid foods or normal diet for some days. As for non-veg, since it spoils quickly you need to take certain precautions like cook it well at high temperatures, avoid outside foods including non-veg. Avoid spicy and oily curries and rich gravy dishes, biryanis and kebabs as they have more fat and spices which are difficult to digest and irritate the gastric lining. You can have boiled eggs, mutton/chicken and fish curry with less spices and oil, boiled, roasted and stewed forms instead of fried forms.
Avoid eating out as food prepared by vendors, local eateries, street food does not have good hygiene standards and can cause infection again.
Cook foods well at home and avoid eating stale or raw foods. Avoid contamination of foods and drinks by practising good food and personal hygiene. Wash hands frequently with a soap before eating, before cooking and preparation and after using the toilet.
