Suggest Diet Chart To Be Followed For An Infant

Hi Doctor, My baby is 8 months old. She has had little daliya, little wheat cereal less than half tbsp and she is fine with it. But when I increase the quantity she Vommits after having Milk. It s like overwating and she is probably not able to digest that quantity. Please help as to is it the problem with quantity of daliya or I should not give milk after 2 hrs as that may cause overeating . Thank you in advance!

Hi,

No need to worry until the baby is active, accepting feeds, sleeping well and playing. Kindly observe the following:
1) Let the baby go with her own pace
2) More number of feeds though in very small quantities is important
3) Formula milk may sometimes be vomited but no need to worry
4) Milk is a bit difficult to digest especially formula
5) After every feed baby needs to burp that will prevent vomiting
6) Immediately after feed, don't allow her to lie down let her be upright for 10- 15 mins
7) You can give mashed potatoes, boiled apple, boiled and mashed carrot, banana etc.
8) Don't need to worry as total food will never come out in the vomit. Small amounts is ok and that doesn't mean overeating.
9) Baby will herself adjust with the quantity.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
