Hi,I am Neethu Vipin (Dietitian & Nutritionist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have recently lost weight, and have reached my goal! I do not want to lose anymore but I do want to stay fit and healthy and do not want to gain back the weight. I exercise 3-4 times a week. Can I eat whatever I want as long as I exercise? ... and how do I solve cravings?
For weight maintenance, you must continue exercising but watch your diet too! I can understand that food cravings are difficult to control. When you have cravings, you can satisfy them but only as a reward. Do not revert to your old eating habits which I presume were unhealthy. Instead remind yourself of all the effort that went in losing weight. Would you want to repeat that again? I am sure you won't, right....so eat your favourite foods in moderation and only occasionally but do not make them a part of your regular diet. Continue eating healthy and exercising, as it is not only good for maintaining weight but also helps to ward off diseases like heart disease and diabetes mellitus. Follow a healthy eating regimen and reward yourself say once a week with your favourite foods. Hope you will be able to follow my advice. Take care
