Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been on Ativan for 16 years on and off, my doctor wants me off and has put e on 50 mg of Zoloft along with decreasing the Ativan. I was taking 4-6 mg a day for the past couple of years. This is very hard trying to only have 2 mg of Ativan a day. How long does this feeling last, is there anything else I can do or take to help with withdrawl
You will need to ask assistance from a doctor that has experience in helping patients to withdraw from benzodiazepines. You may need 2-3 months of gradual tapering of the dose to be able to successfully withdraw from Ativan. Your doctor needs to draw a plan with daily doses that you can follow. Regular checks with your doctor are important during this time.
I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal for further medical assistance.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj General and Family Physician
