Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am trying to figure out if plaquenil 200mg, 2x a day,(hydroxychloroquine) is a NSAID. I am having surgery in 10 days and need to know whether to stop taking this medication. i was also wondering about sulfasalazine 500mg,(2x a day) as well. I already know that Celebrex is considered a NSAID. I will be contacting my dr. in the morning, but wasn t sure which medicines I should take tonight. Thank you in advance.
Hello. Hydroxychloroquine is not an NSAID. No problem if you take it before surgery. It is an anti inflammatory drug but their mechanism is not similar to NSAIDs.
All the best for your surgery. Wish you a quick recovery
