Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am allergic to metformin and I am taking anglyza and Glimipiride, Glimipiride not working well and I am afraid to increase the dosage of Glimipiride. I take 1mg of Glimipiride 2 x a day and a half tablet late evenings, my sugar has started going to 300 and I am afraid of my numbers are starting to increase more now. Other options that work with onglyza.
Hello.. Glimeperide can be increased and there is no evidence of interaction with saxagliptin. You can initially take glimeperide 2 mg morning and 2 mg evening alongwith saxagliptin. Since you are allergic to metformin the only next option will insulin after you have maxed out of glimepride which is 8mg daily dose.
