I have been given hydromorphone Hcl to take at home after foot surgery. It is a 4 mg white tablet. What strengths does this medication come in? As I searched on line I couldn t find out information. This med is a small round white tab. Research talked about orange and yellow tabs.

Suggest Dosage For Hydromorphone
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. Hydromorphone is an opioid analgesic commonly prescribed for the treatment of moderate to severe type of pain. It s available as small, white and round pills in the dose of 2 mg, 4 mg, 8 mg, and 16 mg. For the symptomatic relief of severe pain, it is recommended in the dose of 2 to 4 mg every 6 hours on as and when needed basis. A gradual increase in dose may be required if there s no response to initial doses. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali
