Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 20 month old toddler was prescribed azithromycin today and when i originally read the paper work it said first dose 6ml so i gave him that when i looked at the prescription bottle it said 3ml for the first dose and differed from the er paperwork will my toddler be ok from 6ml of azithromycin?
Hello. Thank you for posting your query in HCM. See, the dosage depends on the no of doses per day. Generally azithromycin is given as a single dose per day for 3-5days. So a dose of 3-5ml is given according to the body weight of the child. Anyways, giving 6ml as first dose will not cause any problem. Just calculate the dosage as per body weight by discussing with your treating doctor and continue the medication.
Hope this was helpful. Regards
