Suggest Dosage Of Crocin To Be Given To A Child For Persistent Fever
Hi my daughter is 10 yrs old ..having high fever upto 102... i gave her crocin advance 6 hrs before.... shes on antibiotics. Pls recommend whether 10yrs can have crocin advance as i just read not below 12 yrs.... also after 6 hrs shud i give her crocin tablet or syrup..if syrup how much her weight is 39 kg
** Thanks for contacting with your health concern and following is/are necessary clarification:
1. Crocin Advance [paracetamol] belongs to the class of non steroidal anti inflammatory drug [NSAID's] effective in reducing fever and pain and yes it is contraindicated in children under 12 years of age but since only one dose has been given it won't do much harm to the system.
PS. As composition is 500 mg in crocin advance which is normal for a 10 year child but since the absorption rate of Crocin Advance is 25% faster than standard Paracetamol tablet it might be the reason of not using in children under 12 years.
2. After 6 hours give her regular paracetamol in dose of 250-500 mg six hourly [maximum 4 doses in 24 hours] and if thinking of giving syrup then according to her age/weight it should be 20 ml six hourly
PS. Do not give this medicine to child for more than 3 days without speaking to your doctor
