Suggest Duration Of Rozavel F Intake For Cholestrol
hello sir .i am anita koul age 43.my doctor gives me rozavel f for lowering cholesterol .at that time(augest 2011) my cholesterol is 299 .and after 4 months(january 2012) my cholesterol is 135.please let me know for huch much time i have to continue the mediceine or any other suggestion. thank you
Hello. Thank you for your question and welcome to HCM. I understand your concern.
My opinion is that you should withhold treatment or, at least, lower the dosage. If you would come to my office with this cholesterol figure and with your age, I would suggest a strong cholesterol-lowering diet, and would certainly not start you on medication immediately. So, my recommendation at this moment is that you should stop taking rosuvastatin and follow a diet rich in fibers (green leafy vegetables and fruit); more chicken or another poultry and fish, less raw and red meat; also, a 60-minute physical activity per day, minimally. Then, you should check your cholesterol and liver enzyme profile after three months. If this diet is not working on lowering the cholesterol, then we could discuss about starting you on a cholesterol-lowering agent (statin). I hope I was helpful with my answer.
