My boyfriend has a bee sting on the back of his calf. The calf is warm and swollen. It is extremely painful to walk on, but once he s going it gets better. It is rock hard. What should I do to help get the swelling down? I read ice but he s against it. I also read ibuprofen. Thank you for your help!

Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Ideally, you should take him to the doctor and get done clinical examination of skin because possibility of cellulitis is more by your description.
Ice application is best for relieving inflammation.
Ask him to keep his leg elevated. This will also help in decreasing swelling.
He will need ibuprofen and other anti inflammatory drugs.
If pain or swelling worsen then immediately consult doctor. Other home remedies are, application of turmeric and honey.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wishing good health to your boyfriend. Thanks.
