Graves' disease, also known as toxic diffuse goiter and Flajani-Basedow-Graves disease, is an
autoimmune disease that affects the thyroid. It frequently results in
hyperthyroidism and an enlarged thyroid.
exopthalmos that is protruding eyes are a symptom most of the time
treatment options available are
1. radio
iodine abalation ot thyroid and then subsiquent
thyroid hormone replacement by synthetic hormone
2 surgery by way of total
thyroidectomy and then replacement therapy
3. use of beta blockers and methmazole to control symptoms till definitive therapy can be done
the eye issues will have to be taken care off separately
option 1 and 2 are the best for long term good life
option 3 is only for the interim till decision for the other two options can be taken or if there is an issue which contraindicated option one and two till the time it can be tackled
