Your symptoms do seem to suggest sciatica i.e. pain due to pinching of the sciatic nerve as it comes out of the spinal cord.
Common causes are a prolapsed or herniating intervertebral disc, rheumatic conditions affecting the spine, pregnancy, lumbar canal stenosis, etc. Most of these conditions can be diagnosed with an Xray of the lumbosacral spine. You seem to have developed quite severe sciatica. Hence, I would suggest treatment of the cause rather than relieving symptoms at this point of time as unnecessary delay may lead to aggravation of the condition.
There are many sites and books offering exercises and remedies for sciatica, but I would not recommend them at this juncture.
Hope this helps.
Regards, Dr Geeta
