Suggest Eye Drops After Accidental Contact Of Hydrogen Peroxide With Eye

I accidentally got the 3% hydrogen peroxide contact solution in my eye. I immediately rinsed it out but noticed the white of my eye is red and may have a small burn on it. Can I use the eye drops for pink eye (unopened bottle) to help the healing process?

Anesthesiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Please don't use any drops in your eyes as they may irritate further. The redness and foreign body sensation will slowly go off. As you had rinsed immediately after the exposure, you don't need to worry. Give some time for the eye to heal by itself.

Please do consult an ophthalmologist, if you notice symptoms like severe pain in eye, redness that doesn't decrease even after 3 days, or vision getting blurred. Usually the redness decreases and you will be normal in 2 days.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
