Hi my name is Vicki and I believed I have swimmer s ear. It felt like water was in my ear so I put peroxide in the ear and it cause a mild to severe pain. Its been a week since I had this, I went to the ER to make sure that it was external ear infection and not the middle ear. They only told me there was a mass of some sort in my ear and tried to flush it with cold water. I wanna know is their a faster cure to healing this infection? It has gotten one side of face swollen and the ear is barely open.
As per your query you have swimmer's ear along with pain and dizziness . Swimmer's ear is an infection in the outer ear canal . Swimmer's ear is also known as acute external otitis or otitis externa. The most common cause of this infection is bacteria invading the skin inside your ear canal . In some ceases like in lower immunity and when it left untreated this infection spread to further and cause further complications like pain and dizziness as happening in your case . I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist again for proper checkup . Doctor may order certain test like CT scan and examine with otoscope . Doctor may prescribe stronger antibiotics , steroid ear drops , antiemetic drug and sometimes place tubes for drainage . Cover your ear while breathing and keep it dry until it gets better .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
