Suggest Generic Medication To Substitute Lipitor

Lipitor is a medicine recommended to help reduce the effects of high cholesterol. However the medication is expensive. Are there programs to help reduce the cost of this medicine or are there comparable generic medications that will work the same? Thank you.

Lipitor contains atorvastatin. Yes, Lipitor is costly. It is a very safe medicine in terms of safety profile. Its alternative is rosuvastatin but it is also costly. You can buy a generic form of atorvastatin in equivalent dose of Lipitor. Generic form Lipitor from other companies is cheaper than Lipitor. Besides Lipitor, there are other life style changes you can adopt to reduce cholesterol level from your body.
Advice
1.     Exercise – start workout in gym at least for half an hour for 4 – 5 days in a week regularly
2.     Avoid eating high energy foods such as cakes, chocolates, chips etc.
3.     Avoid alcohol and smoking
4.     Increase consumption of high fiber diet such as wheat bread, dry date, vegetables etc
5.     Drink 3 – 4 liters of water daily
6.     Chew the food properly to make it easily digestible
7.     Divide your meals into smaller portions and eat them frequently during the day
8.     Avoid oily & spicy food
9.     Investigation – lipid profile
