Hi, My brother-in-law suffers from reflux quite badly. He has been told that the medication that he takes for it is causing his joint pain - similar to arthritis. This has come upon him all in the last year, and his shoulders are so painful he hardly sleeps. Do you have any alternative remedies for the reflux? Thanks so much. Never knew you were here till a friend told me about the site (half an hour ago!!)
As per query - Acid reflux which you are talking about occurs when lower esophageal sphincter of body relaxes improperly and cause acid from stomach to move back into esophagus. As medications are causing adverse effects of joint pain to you, i would suggest you to start daily with a cup of warm water and lemon juice. eat raw almonds on daily basis as it balances PH of blood. Take apple cider vinegar one to two table spoons on daily basis.
Chamomile or mint tea is very effective in reducing acid reflux. Always try to sleep on your left side. Eat apple daily. Stop alcohol, smoke, try to exercise daily as weight should be maintained. Elevate head of your bed while sleeping. Chew gum 2-3 times a day. Avoid fatty food, citrus fruits in diet as they act as triggers. Baking soda is very effective acid neutralizer.
Ginger root and aloe Vera juice are most effective home remedies. If symptoms keeps on persisting visit Gastroenterologist once and get properly prescribed medications.
