Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I m a 23 year old girl. 2 years ago, I suffered from dengue fever. I think it was not much serious because I recovered like within 20 days from it. After that, I ve been experiencing severe hair loss. Hair loss while I apply oil and during shampoo...I ve been ignoring it thinking that, it might be because of relocation and work stress. But now, I see that my scalp is highly visible and the rate of hair growth is very slow. It seems as if I m turning bald soon. Please suggest me if I should consult a doctor? Or any home remedies can cure it. I don t have dandruff issue either. Pleaseeeee suggest me...
Since you are having a major hair loss after a severe disease then you are most likely suffering telegenic effluvium, which is reactive hair loss precipitated by stress the body undergoes after a disease. It’s mostly a self limiting condition which resolves on its own so you may need no medication, just have a healthy diet with lots of green leafy vegetables and try to remain active. Usually after all hairs shed, new hairs will grow like before, still it’s advisable to consult a dermatologist.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Anirban Majumder, General & Family Physician
