Hi ,I run a day care centre . where infants and toddlers stay with us for almost 8 hrs.all of them love to be with us and relish the food that is served,But with me a toddler is there who will be completing 2 years this july. Rarely he eats properly and does not like to keep food in the mouth also. We always tell n counsell his mother .she is reluctant to give medication .we love all are kids hence could u pl suggest home remedies to increase his apetite. we have tried a lot of variationds in food with him.
How is weight and height- adequate for age? If having normal weight as per age, and he is active and playful, we need not worry much. Anemia is a common cause of poor appetite in children and hence it is good to have his haemoglobin checked once, as treatment is easy and gives good results. Also, advise parents to minimise / avoid caffeinated drinks and sweets. Include green leafy vegetables and fruits in diet to ensure adequate minerals and vitamins. Regular de-worming also is recommended.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
