My son is 12 and has been diagnosed with ADHD when he was 6 years old. He was just released from a behavioral center for his suicidal thoughts and He is having a lot of difficulties with depression, seeing things, and hearing voices. He is still very impulsive and just does and says the first thing that comes into his head with no regard for any one else s thoughts and feelings. In the center they prescribed Nomenda 5mg once per day, focalin xr 30mg once per day, Zoloft 50mg once per day and Trazodone 50mg to take at night. He was there for 12 days and was doing very well, however they stated that wanted to keep him a couple of days longer because they wanted to up the Nomenda (they stated that this was given to him to help with his impulses and aggression). Insurance denied the extra time so they sent him home the next day. When he went to be released they didn t write him a RX for the Nomenda medication. When I asked, they stated that it was for Alzheimer patients and should have never been prescribed to him. Is there any medications that I could research and suggest to his new therapist to try in place of the Nomenda?
