I had a missed miscarriage this month I was 9 wks 3 days when I found out. I was carrying twins they made it to 9wks. Results of tests on the fetuses suggested a genetic defect (blighted ovum). Can this happen again? What can I do to reduce my chance of it happening again?
Hello, Thanks for trusting us with your health concern. The chances of recurrence of a blighted ovum in a subsequent pregnancy are usually very less, unless there is a chromosomal defect in the parent/parents. If everything else is normal, you can go on to try for pregnancy in future with prenatal vitamins in place. Please maintain a gap of at least six months before you try to conceive again. This helps to improve the general condition, offer you rest and avoid undue stress. Take a healthy diet and have regular follow up. Hope this helps.
