Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My son had a bad fall down some stairs last night and lost consciousness. He lives in NY with his girlfriend. He lost consciousness 4 more times so he took an ambulance to an E.R. For a Cat Scan, which showed a mild concussion. He rested today but is now at work for a 3 hour shift. Is the one Cat Scan sufficient after losing consciousness 4 times? Or should he be tested one more time? Thank you.
As the CT scan showed a mild concussion, its always advisable to take a rest. Also your doctor at ER should have also prescribed some medications for him to take. If he loses consciousness again, or if episode increases, your doctor may decide to do a repeat CT scan after 7-15 days from a different centre just to be sure of findings, which we usually do.
For now, as you said he is already up and working, ask him to rest as much as possible, not to operate heavy machinery or drive until your doctor asks so.
Thanks

Suggest Medical Tests To Rule Out Concussion
