Suggest Medication For Tinea Versicolor?

Hi - I have had tinea versicolor for about 2 years now - I have tried many different things to get rid of it but they don t seem to work - I have used Selenium Sulfide and Ketoconazole - I am 62 years of age - and have not had this before - any suggestions?

tinea versicolor is caused by a fungus that is normally present on the skin surface.
Recurrence is most common, and prophylactic therapy may help reduce the high rate of recurrence.
Treatment are as follow

Topical agent:
selenium sulfide, sodium sulfacetamide, ciclopiroxolamine.
In your case you have applied overnight time for 3-4 week
Weekly application of any of the topical agents for the following few months may help prevent recurrence.

Oral Therapy:
Fluconazole, and itraconazole
ketoconazole, 200-mg daily therapy for 10 days

But this treatment do not prevent recurrence.

To prevent recurrence-treatment with an oral or topical agent may need to be repeated intermittently throughout the year.

If above treatment does not improve your condition you can try photodynameic therapy at best dermatologist in your area.
