Suggest Medication For A Painful Boil In The Pelvic Area
Sir, I have developed a boil in the pelvic area very close to the anus. Coughing, Passing stools or urine is very painful apart from being able to sit or stand. Apart from ceftum 500 and enzoflam twice daily as recommended by the doctor I have been using lox 2% while trying to use the bathroom but there is no relief. is there any gel or cream more effective than lox 2% that would give me relief? Thank you.
A boil is an infection of an hair follicle, pus/discharge can sometimes collect in these areas, making the pain worse. In addition to the pain killers and antibiotic that you are using, you can consider:
(1) A warm compress to the area twice daily for 10 to 15 mins, this would encourage it to drain
(2) Combined with sitz baths 2 to 3 times daily - sitting in a tub or basin with warm not hot water for 15 to 20 mins would also help with pain relief and encourage drainage. The water should contain salt or epsom salt
(3) A stool softener so that you do not have to strain to stool
I hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Michelle Gibson James
