Hi. I am 35 years old, 174 cm and around 76 kg. I started taking zoely contraceptive pill 5 weeks ago to control my acne. However, 5 weeks in I have started breaking out even more, also with cystic acne. I crave bad foods, feel very hormonal and are constantly spotting. Is this normal? Will it get worse before it gets better? Before I started on the pill I was on akamin 50 for a few months. That was good and helped a lot but as it hadn t cleared my skin completely, I started on zoely also hoping the pill would improve my heavy menstrual cycle and breast tenderness before my period. I have three children and my skin was good during the pregnancies. I am healthy, don t smoke and only drink alcohol a couple of times a month if that..... I feel frustrated and don t know what to do!!! What do u recommend?
As first-line management you can try clindamycin topical cream (Clinsin) is a popular brand for symptomatic relief. If lesion persists better to consult a dermatologist and get evaluated.
