Suggest Medication For An Open Wound On The Shin Caused After An Injury

Hi, I was hit with a line drive softball on my shin. It was a contusion that initially began to swell. After a few weeks, it began to open up and became infected. I took a 14 day round of antibiotics, however, now it is an open wound and it is taking forever to heal (been an additional 5 weeks since completion of antibiotics). Why would this happen and how long will it take to heal. (44 year old woman/smoker) Thank you! K

Hi,

Please get checked on sugar levels to rule out diabetes that prevents or delays wound healing. Also Blood pressure levels through a charting done over different times of day through a week.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
