Suggest Medication For Anti Depression That Doesn't Affect Pregnancy

hi , i have been on antidepressants( cipralex) for 5 years and i want to start a family but i undertsand that i cant plan while on this medication, are there any antidreppesants that are safe for pregnancy, because i currently i cant cope without the medication

Hi,

No antidepressant is absolutely safe during pregnancy. Since Cipralex has been working fine for you, in my opinion, you should discuss with your doctor regarding gradually tapering the dose down to the minimum that is needed for you to remain well. You can then go ahead with the pregnancy. There is no point in trying a new drug. A detailed assessment by your doctor can also help find out if instead of medicines, psychotherapy or other treatments can be taken up or not.
