Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Why do so many doctors in the states avoid putting people on benzos and opioids. Human are all addicted to drugs we wake up have coffee eat sugar everyday! If you can help people who have anxiety or depression and these pills help them and their lives improve but they end up taking a pill everyday what is wrong with that! You also prescribe people codien pills that are 20 mgs with 325 mgs of actemetaphan which is horrible for the liver and you use it so people won t abuse the codien but how does that makes sense people are taking more of these because the drug that actually works for the pain is a low dose so people take more .... Uh! We need more Drs like Karl Hart from Cambridge! My psychiatrist prescribed me seriquel for my acute anxiety ! Uhhhhhh! I felt like a damn zombie all day I could barely stay awake I had to drink more coffee which led me to be more anxious! when all I wanted was a pill that would help when I had an episode out of the blue! I asked another dr and they were blown away by this ... All to avoid putting me on a benzo that would actually help! It s madness!
It is not because addiction, they avoid prescribing benzos or opioids but because it could ruin your body parts and it could wreck havoc in anxiety and depression itself in due course. They can be helpful for a short term. In long term, if continuously taken, its negative effects are much much more harmful. Therefore I suggest consulting a psychologist for physical examination, diagnosis and treatment based on psychotherapy.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
