Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
i have bronchitis with very deep chest cough and when I lie back to sleep or rest it makes high pithed sounds and when I sit up it stops. I’m 65 on only antacids and for this doctor gave me a pac 4 days ago but don’t feel much better and concerned about noises in chest
Reflux can contribute to a persistent cough but not usually a deep cough like you are describing. The antacids would not help with deep cough. You would need a cough suppressant but if the cough is wet, you may also need a mucolytic to help break up the mucus. Examples of mucolytic are Bisolvon, Guaifenesin, and Mucomyst. Fluids would help to break up the mucus in the chest.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Michelle Gibson James
