Suggest Medication For Chronic Pain In A Person With History Of Endometriosis

Hello, This may be long winded and I shall apologize prior... I am a long term Pain Management Patient and I am completely exhausted lol. It is so difficult being in pain daily and now the feeling of flu like symptoms that I have always had are getting more extreme. I have a long history of Endometriosis starting at around 15 but not truly diagnosed until I was 19 I believe since the procedure to diagnosing is surgical. I struggled for years, Depo. Lupron, Birth Control and finally a partial hysterectomy after my second child removing my Uterus and Cervix . I was pain free for 8 1/2 years until I had a cyst rupture and I got very sick.. I had no idea that the Ovaries job was to produce Cysts and of course they end up rupturing which is very UNPLEASANT. Needless to say I tried more treatment but thought that my only REAL option was to remove everything. So I had Kaiser remove my Ovaries and Fallopian tubes and after I was still very ill so I found another Dr. to go back in for an exploratory and he found Remnants of Nodules and Remnants of Ovaries that were left and removed them? After all of this 4 surgeries, all kinds of Preventative Treatments I am on permanent Disability and in Chronic pain and under medicated as most. My Dr. has pretty much given up and refuses to change my pain meds and does not due any type of injections and is very limited on what she can prescribe after breaking her neck losing her practice and ending up at County. There are a lot of medications that she cannot prescribe that she used to like Oxycontin which really helped me. I am at a lost and really need to find a Dr. who is not afraid to prescribe medications and who can also do nerve blocks, possible injections, and run more tests since I have clearly been getting worse not better. I am hoping the Endometriosis it is not in my bowels or something worse. When I eat I have more pain and get very sick. Do you have any suggestions? Part of the problem with my case is that it started out as Gynecological and now is clearly not since I have none of my female parts. It is more Complex Regional Pain. What do you suggest and whom could you suggest? Thank You Sherry Ashley 916-807-3579

Hello,

Endometriosis is a condition that can cause pain in the lower part of the belly and trouble getting pregnant. Some people with endometriosis have no symptoms. But most have pain in the lower part of the belly that can occur. Endometriosis can be treated in different ways. The right treatment for you will depend on your symptoms and on whether you want to be able to get pregnant in the future. Your doctor can use medicines to treat endometriosis. Include: Pain medicine, birth control medicine, medicine that stop monthly periods, and surgery. Discuss with your doctor what is the best choice for you.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
