Suggest Medication For Cough And Congestion
Hi,
For the last year or so i have had problems with breathing in saliva causing me to cough to try to expell the fluid - leaving me sore and wheezy. I use the inhaler (i have mild asthma) and it does eventually ease off- but why does this happen?
It just seems to take me by surprise and can be embaressing if in public place or work situation/meeting and just suddenly start coughing and spluttering- it seems to be getting more frequent and is causing me concern.

I can understand your concern.
In my opinion, your asthma has been worsening and not controlled by current inhaler.
So better to consult pulmonologist and get done clinical examination of respiratory system and PFT (Pulmonary Function Test).
PFT will tell you about severity of asthma and treatment is based on severity only.
Long acting inhaled bronchodilators (formoterol or salmeterol) and inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) (budesonide or fluticasone) are best for optimal control of asthma.
Oral combination of antihistamine (levocetrizine or fexofenadine) and anti allergic (montelukast) once a day at night is also beneficial.
Don't worry, you will be alright with all these.
