She will be treated with a course of antibiotics to reduce the harmful bacteria that is causing inflammation in the intestine and thus the symptoms. She should only take acetaminophen as other pain relieving medicines can worsen the symptoms. She should take vitamin and nutritional supplements if she is not absorbing sufficient quantity of nutrients.
