Suggest Medication For Dry Cough And Wheezing

I m a 59 year old female weighing roughly 350 lbs. I have recently developed a dry cough, however, with enough coughing will cough up something. I am having a harder and harder time walking any distance without being very short of breath. I can hear wheezing as I m trying to breath. I ve been wanting to start a walking program now that the weather is nicer, but worried I will pass out while walking. Thanks!

Hello,

For a dry cough, I would suggest you have a cough syrup that contains chlorpheniramine maleate and codeine in combination like Ascoril C. It will provide some relief from the dry cough.

For the wheezing, I would like to know if you had any family history or personal history of asthma?

It's advisable to see a physician for the wheezing and shortness of breath issue. There is detailed physical examination need to be done by the doctor with all clinical history of yours.

As well as if needed some diagnostic tests to find out the exact cause behind the symptoms. After that, it will be better and easy to treat it with appropriate medicine.

About walking, it's good that you are willing to lose weight and lead a healthier life.

If you fear that you might pass out due to exertion then I would suggest you not going alone for the walk and make sure you are accompanied by someone. Or you also can think about doing so after you visit your doctor and follow his advice on the same.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
