Suggest Medication For E Coli Infection With Low Appetite
I have been diagnosed with e coli infection..I have finished a prescription of sulfamethoxazole and I still feel very weak and no appetite...What would you prescribe and how long before this goes away ? I have no idea how I got it....... Thank you Barbara Wilson
Hello You mention you were treated for an E. Coli infection, but you do not mention where the infection was located nor how long was the treatment. These two issues make a difference. Also, you do not mention if sensitivities to the bacteria were done in order to see if the proper antibiotic was given. The most common place E. Coli occurs is in the urine, with a simple urinary tract infection. The usual treatment is for 3 days. Now if the infection was in the kidneys, with pyelonephritis, the treatment should last 10 to 14 days. E. Coli infection in the bloodstream, with sepsis, should be treated for 10 to 14 days. It is normal to take a few days even after the antibiotic has finished to fully recover. Best regards
