Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have FBS of 120 mg/ml and then I go for 5 km walk. I hv breakfast after returning consisting of brown bread n peanut butter and green tea. After 2 hrs Post meal level is always abt 240+. Kindly advise how to bring down the levels. I take Gemer-1 after breakfast. Thank you.
You did not mention your age and the type of diabetes you are diagnosed with. As your FBS is fairly controlled and PPBS is poorly controlled,it seems that there is a defect in your post meal insulin secretion which results in higher PPBS levels.
Gemer-1 is glimiperide, which is an insulin secretagogue. As your PPBS is not adequately controlled with glimiperide, i would advise you to have some insulin sensitizers like metformin(in the required dosage) which would help in decreasing the PPBS levels by increasing the peripheral utilization of sugar.
Get your FBS and PPBS repeated after one week of having these medications.
If it still remains higher, consult with your diabetologist. Hope your query is solved, Take care.
