Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I ve had a lot of hair since the day I was born. On my 28th birthday 5/29/15 I noticed it felt a lot less dense which scared me. I didn t notice a significant loss of hair it was very sudden. I only wash my hair once a week. I went to a doc for blood work everything came back perfect. Went to a derm who gave me a steroid for inflammation. Was it telogen effluvium? I ve been taking biotin and super b complex for years and after visiting the doctors I have added a multivitamin msm silica fish oil and folic acid. The only medication I take is tri-sprintec that I ve been on for 6 years with no problems. My question is when can I expect fullness to return? After I noticed the hair problem, I started to let a gray patch of hair that I ve pulled out since I was 14 grow in, that seems to be the only hair growing on my head. It has grown about 3 1/2 inches since June 1st and it s now November 7th. Shouldn t the hair that fell out be about that long as well since they should have started growing around the same time? I also notice I have to shave every other day when I used to only need to shave once a week before I even noticed stubble and I need to pluck my eyebrows more often I assume from all of the vitamins. I ve started using Nioxin and other medicated shampoos as well. This is depressing me beyond belief. Is there anything I can to to make it grow in healthier? Can I expect hair growth at all? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
