Suggest Medication For High TSH Levels

My TSH value is 7.4 ( which I know is high). What are the risks with this high value and what medicine should I take and in what power and proportion. I had thyroid problems so till 5 years ago I used to take Eltroxin ( 1 tablet a day). Please advice.

I understand your concern.
TSH levels of 7.4 µIU/mL is quite high as the range should be between 0.5 - 4.70 µIU/mL. It indicates hypothyroidism.
Eltroxin, the medication you are taking is the drug of choice for treatment of hypothyroidism. It appears that the dose may be insufficient to bring back the TSH levels to normal.
Hence, kindly get complete thyroid work-up by getting your blood tested for Free T3 and Free T4 levels along with TSH and Thyroid antibodies. Kindly consult Physician with the report for the proper dosage with medications to be taken and advise regarding follow-up.
