Suggest Medication For High Blood Pressure

Hi I am taking Losartan, Hydralizine and carvedilol for my blood pressure and other issures. However, my blood pressure remains on the high side. I was taking amlodipine but it made my feet and ankles swell. What is a good blood pressure medidine that you suggest that will not affect my kidneys but lower my blood pressure.

Hello, Thanks for the query.
There are many drugs which can be taken to reduce and control BP. Most of those are very safe. The selection of a particular drug depends upon various factors related to the patient like age, level of BP, co-morbid conditions etc. If your BP is not in control with Losartan and Hydralazine, then other drugs like ACE-Inhibitors (Ramipril, Lisinopril), other ARBs like Olmesartan or Telmesartan and Azilsartan or some of the selective Beta blockers can be used. Newer drugs like Olmesartan and Azilsartan can be a better choice with hydrochlorthiazide. BP should be ideally maintained between 120 to 130 / 70 to 80 mm Hg. This also prevents likely damage to kidneys due to
high BP. Thanks.
