Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My ear lobe is infected, it looks like the skin is being eaten away, and it oozes . I was prescribed a antibiotic cream but everytime I apply it it continues to ooze and I have to wipe my ear and it wipes off the antibiotic its almost like the infection is fighting the antibiotic. And it gets yellow crusted. Would you recommend taking pills to work inside out?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of infection in ear lobe which could be due to accumulation of wax and infection in ear. The fluid accumulation behind the ear drum leads to reduced hearing tendency and you need to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to maintain proper hygiene.Avoid touching and pricking it with any sharp object. Put otogesic ear drops in ear. For infection in ear oral antibiotics as well as antibiotic ear drops and decongestant nasal sprays can help. You should get it checked and go for otoscopic examination as it is important. You can go for drainage of fluids as well.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
