Suggest Medication For Low Bone Density

What would you recommend for increasing bone density? I am 66 years old and in generally good condition, currently not taking any allopathic medication. My MD wants me to take Fosamax (Alendronate, 70 mg) 1x/wk to slow down the bone density loss. I don t like to take drugs and want to improve bone density, especially in my mid-upper back. My chiropractor suggested that I take coleus forte or gotu kola complex.

Hi welcome to the health care magic

According to your history you are having low bone density so that you can have osteoporosis like condition....

For that you have been prescribed correct drug that is alendronate which will reduce odteoclastic bone resorption and so that will improve bone density

Check your calcium level also if low than cholecalciferol sachet can be Prescribed which can be taken once in week with milk....

Regular follow up needed

If needed for osteoporosis raloxifene like Hormonal drug might added

Take healthy and balanced diet

Exercise will be beneficial

Alendronate can cause gastritis like side effect

Consult orthopedic surgeon for examination and accordingly management plan

Take care
