Good Morning Dr. My wife is in her 30th week of our first pregnancy. She suffers from Migraine headaches and is become a lot worse during the pregnancy. Our Gynecologist suggested up to 3 crocins a day (Paracetamol 500 mg each) which she has been taking. Is there any alternative for this or any other cure? We have tried all home remedies. Also she is putting an a lot of weight. (before pregnancy 60-62kgs, now 79kgs) she does not eat junk food and out of the way. Please advise. Thank you and appreciate your help NB: We miscarried last year in September 2010
I went through your history provided to us. It seems your wife is having recurrent migraine. The treatment for migraine in the acute episode is by use of analgesic tablets. She can take paracetamol as suggested by your doctor. however it it is not responding you need to go for ergot alkaloids like ergotamine. Since she is having recurrent episodes she needs to take prophylactic drugs like beta blockers or flunarizine for treatment of the migraine. Hence I advice you to consult your doctor for examination and treatment depending on the underlying cause.
