Hi There,My wife is suffering from Migraine problem. Most of the times it will be accompanied by nausea & vomiting. She will get relief after the vomiting. She is working and mostly what we had noticed that if for continuous 2-3 days she is not getting proper rest then the migraine attack will occur. She generally don t take medicines even during migraine attack. What is the medicine you can suggest which can be taken to avoid such attack and what is the medicine which can be taken during the initial stages of the attack. She is regular in her daily exercise regime and otherwise fit and very active.Regards,DG
Hello. The most commonly used medications to take at the time of a migraine are triptan medications like imitrex. They need to be taken at the very onset of a headache to be effective. If she is having the headaches frequently then it is good for her to take a medication daily to try and prevent the headaches. The come in three categories 1) beta-blockers like propranolol, 2)antidepressants like amitriptylene and 3) anticonvulsants like topiramate.
