Suggest Medication For Nervousness Which Does Not Interfere With Dilantin And Lamictal

Hi I have had epilepsy for a lot of years controlled by drugs. I was taking Atarax dor alont time but Dr took me off of it. Was wondering if he knew it wasn t good for me? I travel & traffic makes me nervous. Is there anything I can take that wont interfere with Dilantin & Lamictal?

Hi,

Most rapid acting anxiety medications are also used in the acute setting to treat seizures. Ativan and Librium cross the blood brain barrier the best and are primarily used, but any rapid acting like this should be used with caution, particularly with travel. SSRIs are an option. Wellbutrin is the only anti-anxiety medication that decreases the seizure threshold and should always be avoided.
