Suggest Medication For Nose Bleed Which Lasted For 12 Hours & Platelet Count 76
Hi I had a nose bleedon Monday which lasted about 12 hours. My bloods came back and all were ok apart from the platelets which were 76. I'm now home but feeling tired and weak all the time. Is this normal? I'm due to have some more bloods taken to see if the platelets have gone back up.
Hello and welcome to HCM, Spontaneous nose bleed can be due to low platelet counts. The platelet counts are low in your case. However, the counts are not so low so as to warrant the infusion of platelets. However, the cause of low platelets has to be found out and thus treatment has to be instituted. Consult your hematologist for assessment of peripheral blood smear and bone marrow aspirate. Lo platelet occurs due to increased destruction or decreased production. Drugs are very common cause of platelet destruction. See whether there is history of use of any drug and bring this into the knowledge of your hematologist.
