Suggest Medication For Over Dose Of Polio Vaccine Causing Diarrhea
hi doctor good evening. My twin babies who are 5 months old now were accidentally given double dosage of polio vaccine 3 weeks back. Post that they have been diagnosed with diarrhoea and have undergone various antibiotic courses to reverse the effect. Unfortunately there is no evident improvement in the situation. Though there has been a wait gain in both of them 600 gms in case of Twin 1 and 200 gms in case of twin 2. Please advise as we are very worried now.
I can understand your concern but let me tell you that, generally there is no risk of overdose, fully immunized children receiving extra doses of OPV will receive extra protection against polio.
Also i would like to know if there is any fever, vomiting, abnormal finding in stool examination, if no, then it might be some viral infection which will subside on it's own.
As the child is gaining weight i don't think any reason to worry.
Hope i helped you.
