Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
The past month I have been having pain in my right foot, near my big toe. Even when I am not wearing shoes I get a shooting pain on the side of my foot. I think it might be a bunion forming. I work on my feet for 8+ hours a day and I have started wearing wide shoes to try and help with friction against my big toe. Is there anything a doctor can do to help alleviate pain?
Hello Pain in right foot near big toe , may be due to these possibilities , these includes. 1 Gouty arthritis , diagnosis can be confirmed by blood examination for uric acid level . If hyperuricemia ,consult an orthopedic surgeon and get his opinion. 2 The next reason of such pain may be rheumatoid arthritis , diagnosis can be confirmed by rheumatic factor ( blood examination) and blood examination for E SR level. 3 Chondritis is the another most common possibility of pain in right foot due to long standing case . Diagnosis can be confirmed by C T scan of this part with x ray of this part. However there are also many reason , as osteoarthritis , deficiency of calcium but deal as mentioned above and consult an orthopedic surgeon for treatment. Good luck.
