Suggest Medication For Peptostreptococcus When Allergic To Penicillin
My daughter has peptostreptococcus. She is taking clindamycin. 300mg four times a day. It doesn t seem to be working well or reducing the pain and redness. Would another drug be better? She is allergic to penicillin. She has had it before and it is in the same spot and had the previous one drained and packed in hospital. She had taken 8 doses so far. We are away on vacation and trying to keep her comfortable.

Suggest Medication For Peptostreptococcus When Allergic To Penicillin
Hello, I think that Clindamycin is a good choice in this situation but she should take at least 3-4 days to see if this drug is working well. So, for the moment I suggest to continue Clindamycin and take Ibuprofen in order to reduce the inflammation signs (pain and redness). Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care Regards, Dr Monika Dede, Infectious Diseases Specialist
