Suggest Medication For Pus Drainage From Gums Post Molar Extraction

I had a molar extracted 3 weeks ago and developed a dry socket. I went back to the dentist and she cleaned it out and packed it. A week passed and I now have pus coming from my gums. I went back to my dentist and she was hesitant to give me antibiotics but finally did. I am on my second day with pus still draining. Is there anything else I can do besides using the antibacterial rinse?

Hi Dear ,

As per your query you have pus drainage from gums 3 weeks after molar extraction . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query , but n your case it seems to me that infection occur in gums after extraction . Sometimes due to low immunity or in some cases when infection remain even after cleansing cause such problem . The pus drainage must be gum abscess . I would suggest you to take your medicines as per prescription and complete the course , do warm saline rinses and betadine rinses alternatively . If condition still persist or doesn't get well then consult dentist again . Doctor may order x-ray to check if there remains a part of tooth which is causing infection . Doctor may drain the pus by giving small incision under local anesthesia or prescribe stronger antibiotics .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
