Suggest Medication For Red Painful Lump On The Cheek Bone

My daughter is 7. She s got a small lump on her cheek bone under her left eye. It s been there for two months now, the colour has changed from all red to red in the middle with white around the edges. It s painful if you press the lump. GP advised using Betamethasone skin ointment which I did but it hasn t made any difference. What can I do to make it go away without leaving any trace on the skin?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
The lump you are talking about seems to be an abscess considering the features narrated by you. The exact diagnosis about it can not be made without examining the lesion. But considering the symptoms narrated by you the diagnosis mostly points towards infected tiny cyst turning towards abscess.
So it is ideal to have a dermatologist opinion who might prescribe the antibiotics orally as well as local application. And the concerned regarding leaving trace on face will also be taken care of.
Do not rupture the lesion with nails or else it may leave behind the blackish colouration on face.
