Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
sir, I am a rheumatoid arthritis patient for the past 10 years. my ESR level is 47. Iam taking sazo 500 2 times a day + oncotrex tablet 7.5 mg i no on every sunday + one fol-5 tablet daily. As per latest blood report all other organs such as kidney, lever, heart and colostrol level are under control and has normal value. my blood sugar level is 8.0 (HbA1c). Should I continue these medicines? Now after consulting my sugar doctor, he prescribed 12 units + 8 units of insuline injection both morning and night along with tablet glycimet GP1 (1 in the morning and 1 in the night) 15 minutes before food. after this medicine my blood sugar level now shows (fasting 99 and PP 151).
As per my clinical experience, the Sazo contains Sulfasalazine, Oncotrex contains Methotrexate, both of which are proven best molecules to control rheumatoid arthritis condition. These are the disease modifying agents and hence do not offer much of the pain relief in acutely painful situations. The addition of anti inflammatory medications such as Naproxen or Etoricoxib is best recommended along with the use of above molecules after meals with proton pump inhibitor.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
